Alright, having an issue.

I was in chat then received this notice:

WARNING: You have connected the maximum permitted number of clients from one IP address (clones). If you connect any more, your host will be temporarily banned from the network.

After a bit I was disconnected, then it wouldn't let me connect because I was "throttled", then after about half an hour it starts to connect then disconnects saying "g-lined"

Nny... If I'm reading the error message correctly, for some reason the IRCops who run the IRC server we use picked up too many connections from your IP address/ISP and banned your IP address/ISP. Until the IRCops who run the server get around to unbanning your IP address/ISP, there's really nothing you can do.

Out of curiosity, what client were you guys using? Mibbit?

Yeah, I was using Mibbit and I'm pretty sure si1ver uses it too.

I ask because I suppose its possible that the server ops are having an issue with Mibbit, however I'm not sure why they'd take a drastic step like that without trying to address it other ways first... Short of waiting this out, the only thing I can think of is to try another client and see if you can get in that way. If you can, then its something targeting Mibbit and not your IP address. (Apparently Mibbit is considered a proxy on some networks.) If you can't... You may be screwed until they decide to unban your IP/ISP.

If you use Firefox there's always the Chatzilla client. If you want a non-browser based client or don't use Firefox, the only thing I can tell you is to pick something from this list that works with your OS and which still has active development/support going on.

Thanks Kirschy. There did seem to be quite a lot more people in chat tonight then usual, and someone had joined just as I got the initial warning. I'll probably get around to setting up ChatZilla again tomorrow.
