The panel started out discussing The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya manga to be released October 28, 2009.  The Novels will start to be released beginning in April of 2009.  The manga has a sneak preview of the novel at the end of book.

The panel did give away advanced copies of Haruhi manga to some members of the audience.

American Debut of Baby, The Starts Shine Bright Fashion Show at

New York Anime Festival (NYAF) on Sunday, September 28 at 12:15pm!!

Occasion: The Second Annual New York Anime Festival

Designers from Baby, The Stars Shine Bright – Japan’s premier Lolita fashion brand – are sponsoring their FIRST fashion show to take place in America. Born on the streets of Japan, Lolita fashion adopts child-like charms and details from periods such as Rococo France and Victorian England. Developing since the 1970s in Japan, Lolita fashion has gained a HUGE following worldwide.

Anime fans and followers of Asian cinema will recognize Baby, The Stars Shine Bright as the clothing line at the center of the feature film Kamikaze Girls.

The fashion show on September 28 will feature fashion designs from the movie Kamikaze Girls and the popular clothing line Alice and the Pirates!!!!

At the Robotech panel, they discussed some details of the Live Action Film.  Warner Brothers are committed to getting it released and have signed Lawrence Kasdan on as a writer (Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back screenwriter).  Tobey Macguire has been involved in the Pre-production, but not sure if he will be involved in production.  One of the producers is Charles Roven, from The Dark Knight, and they emphasized that they want it to be character driven.

New York Anime Fest was host to the English Dub Premiere of Darker Than Black, showing 3 episodes from the series.  During the Q&A part of the panel, they confirmed a couple of things concerning the release of the show slated to released in November.  The DVDs will have all 26 episodes.  There was some speculation that the last episode, considered to be a stand alone OVA, was not part of the deal.  Also, there is interest from various TV channels for the broadcast rights, but nothing has been done yet on that front.

As for the dub, I found it to be excellent.

I’ll start out with with there new title announcements first this time.

• Moyasimon: Tales of Agriculture (Fall 2009) — A story about a microbiologist that can see talking bacteria
• Tsubasa Character Guide 2 (Summer 2009) — covers Vol. 8-14 of the manga
• Amefurashi (Rain Goddess)  (July 2009) — manga by Atsushi Suzumi (Cram School & Venus vs. Virus) to be released quarterly
• Maid War Chronicles May 2009

They then reviewed their other titles such as: Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright (on sale now), Gankutsuou (Nov. 11), Mao-chan (10/28/08), Papillon (on sale now), xxxHolic: Anotherholic (10/28/08) — original story set in xxxholic world, comes in a hardcover.

They also stated they will be continueing their novel line.
